NIT Semifinal: Bama vs. Colorado

I can't remember the last time I've been to a basketball game. It's no secret that I don't follow sports, but I had so much fun last night! The game was really exciting, VERY close score & we had great seats, making it much easier/more entertaining to stay in the action. We estimated that the arena was only about 40% full. It was my second time at Madison Square Garden, and it seemed so empty compared to the sold-out Lady Gaga show a few weeks ago. I know there are a lot of Alabama superfans that wish they could have been there though. I had such a great time that we're going back tomorrow night for the final game!

Martha Graham 85th Anniversary Season Opening Night Gala

I volunteered last night at the Martha Graham Gala. Suzanne did a great job of organizing and I had fun helping and being part of it! The 36th Floor (ballroom level) of the Mandarin Oriental provided an absolutely beautiful view of Columbus Circle & the UWS. Visit Guest of a Guest to see pictures from last night.

Reading.

I've been tearing through books lately. The staying up late, skipping lunch to go to the library type of book domination. Two of my favorites that I've finished recently are The Help by Kathryn Stockett & The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky.

I believe it was about two years ago when The Help first hit the bestseller list. On a road trip that summer I listened to the audio version, roughly 60-70% of the novel. I never finished listening. My mom gave me a copy this past Christmas and I decided to start over, from the beginning.

My friend Claire gave me her copy of The Perks of Being a Wallflower when I was visiting her in Cincinnati. It's an epistolary novel, which I learned means a novel written in the form of documents. In this case, a fifteen-year-old named Charlie who's writing letters to an unknown individual. It definitely made me reflect on my own adolescent experiences, when you're just trying to 'figure it all out.' In fact, I'm still figuring. One of my favorite quotes from the book, "And in that moment, I swear we were infinite."

Mardi Gras Party

After visiting New Orleans over my Christmas vacation back in the South, I became obsessed with Suzanne & I hosting a Mardi Gras party. Since Lent began so late this year, I was able to also make it my birthday party!

recent goals

I'm trying to be more goal-oriented because it motivates me to keep learning, which keeps me feeling challenging, which leads me to living my best life possible. My first goal is to learn more about personal finance. I want to continue to put a certain amount in savings from every paycheck and also know how much money is going towards 'entertainment/personal,' i.e. eating out, drinks with friends, shopping, movies/shows, etc. because I know I have some frivolous spending that I could better account for. My second goal is to learn how to make sushi. I love sushi and it's abundant in the city, but I want to learn how to make my own! There's a Japanese grocery a few subway stops down from my apartment and I have my list written out already so here's to creating my homemade rainbow roll!

Brooklyn Bridge

I can check off walking the Brooklyn Bridge on my NYC to-do list.
Labor day wasn't the best day to do this because it was so crowded, but it was really nice outside as the city finally begins its transition to Fall, the only season I've yet to experience.
Excited!
